PAINTING A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Zem Joaquin moderating Future of Fashion panel at Barndiva.

This newsletter is devoted to the power of art. Speaking of, last week I had the honor of moderating a brilliant conversation on the "future of fashion" and how that future can only exist if we address the oversized impact the fashion industry has on carbon dioxide and methane emissions, pesticide use, PFAS, microplastic and landfill burdens, clearcutting, excessive shipping, etc.
It's true there is a lot to be mended, but instead of dwelling on the problem, we shared our collective excitement about the opportunity to make this industry much more beautiful through decarbonization, onshoring, supply chain optimization, organic and modern alternatives, toxin-free performance compounds, and how we fund the improvements.

Thank you to our mindblowing Near Future experts paving the way for a smarter, kinder, healthier industry for all. Check each of them out:

THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND ACTIVISM

Norman Lear - People For The American Way

Norman Lear People For the American Way by Shepard Fairey

Art has always illuminated the tenor of the times and few humans have comprehended the zeitgeist or had more impact on our culture than the great Norman Lear. He was among the most extraordinary humans to ever live. I'm not alone in that belief. There have been endless homages to his life well lived. He appreciated every person, plant, and conversation he encountered. I won't give you his history because so much has been written that you can google the heck out of him, however, here is something fresh and timely. His beloved People for the American Way have memorialized him (and others) to raise money and awareness to get out the vote. Learn more about their campaigns, get a print, or donate here.
